Samsung’s Galaxy Buds 3 and Galaxy Buds 3 Pro have entered the competitive world of wireless earbuds with a host of intelligent features aimed at providing a premium audio experience. While both models boast impressive technology and seamless integration with Samsung’s ecosystem, they fall short in certain areas, making them solid, but not groundbreaking, contenders in the market.

Design and Comfort

Both the Galaxy Buds 3 and 3 Pro come in a sleek, compact design that fits comfortably in the ear, ideal for extended wear. The lightweight build ensures that they sit snugly without causing discomfort, even during long listening sessions. The 3 Pro model offers a more refined design with a glossy finish, adding a touch of elegance. Both models come with silicone tips in various sizes, catering to different ear shapes for a secure fit.

The Buds 3 and 3 Pro are also rated IPX7 for water resistance, making them a great option for workouts or outdoor use. While the design is certainly modern and stylish, the overall look doesn’t stray too far from the previous iterations, leaving some users expecting more innovation in terms of aesthetics.

Sound Quality: Good, But Not Great

When it comes to audio performance, both the Galaxy Buds 3 and 3 Pro offer a rich sound experience, but they fall short of excellence. The sound profile is balanced, with clear highs and mids, but the bass can feel slightly underwhelming, particularly for those who prefer a more robust low-end in their music. Audiophiles might find the overall sound quality lacking when compared to competitors like Apple’s AirPods Pro or Sony’s WF-1000XM4.

The 3 Pro, however, does offer better sound performance than the standard model, thanks to enhanced tuning and support for 24-bit Hi-Fi audio. This makes the Pro version a better choice for those seeking higher fidelity sound, but even then, it stops just short of delivering the immersive audio experience found in some high-end earbuds.

Intelligent Features

Where the Galaxy Buds 3 and 3 Pro excel is in their intelligent features. Both models come equipped with active noise cancellation (ANC), with the 3 Pro offering a more advanced version of the feature. The ANC works well in reducing ambient noise, making them ideal for commuting or working in noisy environments. However, while effective, the noise cancellation doesn’t reach the level of competitors like Bose or Sony.

Both models also feature an “Ambient Sound” mode, allowing users to hear their surroundings without removing the earbuds. The Galaxy Buds 3 Pro takes this a step further with an intelligent feature that automatically adjusts the noise cancellation based on the user’s environment. This AI-driven feature adds a layer of convenience, but its effectiveness can vary, sometimes overcompensating and letting in more ambient sound than necessary.

Other intelligent features include seamless pairing with Samsung devices, touch controls, and voice assistant integration, making these earbuds a great option for those already within the Samsung ecosystem.

Battery Life and Connectivity

Battery life is a strong point for both the Galaxy Buds 3 and 3 Pro. The standard Buds 3 offer up to 8 hours of playback on a single charge, while the 3 Pro provides around 5 hours with ANC turned on and up to 8 hours without it. The included charging case adds several additional charges, bringing the total listening time to 30 hours for the Buds 3 and 20 hours for the 3 Pro with ANC activated.

Both models feature Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, ensuring stable connections and quick pairing. However, while the connection is generally reliable, occasional dropouts have been reported, particularly in crowded areas. The seamless integration with Samsung devices is a highlight, offering features like automatic switching between devices and a low-latency gaming mode.

Final Verdict

Samsung’s Galaxy Buds 3 and 3 Pro deliver a solid performance with intelligent features and sleek design. However, they don’t quite reach the brilliance expected in the premium wireless earbud market. While they excel in comfort, noise cancellation, and smart features, they lag behind competitors in sound quality and noise-cancellation performance.

For Samsung users, the seamless integration and feature set make these earbuds an attractive option, but for audiophiles or those seeking the best sound quality, there are more compelling choices available.
