In an exclusive interview with Women’s Journal, Myroslava Filipovych, a luminary in the world of acting, shares her insights, experiences, and the essence of what it takes to be a successful actress, particularly in the vibrant landscape of Hollywood.

WJM: Myroslava, thank you for joining us. Your journey has been both inspiring and multifaceted. What drives your passion for acting?

Myroslava Filipovych: Thank you for having me. My love for acting stems from a deep connection with the stage, the theater, and the audience. Acting is not just my profession; it’s my hobby, my passion. Every character I play, whether positive or negative, reflects the world around me. They bring to life the stories and emotions that resonate with people.

WJM: You’ve played a range of characters. Which roles have impacted you the most?

MF: Two roles that profoundly affected me were Edith Piaf in “Nine Lives of Edith Piaf” and Conchita in the rock opera “Juno and Avos”. Playing Edith Piaf was a journey into the heart of love, its value, and fragility. And the role of Conchita was a poignant reminder of the transient nature of life and the eternal essence of emotions. These roles reinforced my belief in living optimistically and cherishing every moment.

WJM: As someone who has successfully transitioned from Ukrainian theater to Hollywood, what advice would you give to aspiring actresses?

MF: First and foremost, love what you do. Let your work be your joy. The power of networking in Hollywood cannot be overstated. It’s about forming genuine connections, respecting diverse viewpoints, and not being overly critical of your opponents. Embrace every opportunity to learn, grow, and collaborate.

WJM: Humor seems to play a significant role in your life. How does it influence your work?

MF: Absolutely. I believe in the power of healthy humor – the ability to joke, laugh, and enjoy life. It brings a lightness to my roles and performances, creating a bond with the audience. It’s about finding joy in the little things and transmitting that joy through my characters.

WJM: What’s next for you? Any exciting projects we should look out for?

MF: I’m currently working on new projects, both in acting and singing. I can’t reveal too much yet, but I’m thrilled about the diverse roles and stories we’re bringing to the audience. I’m also focused on promoting Ukrainian culture through my work, showing the richness of our heritage to the world.

WJM: Finally, what message do you want to convey through your work?

MF: My message is one of hope, love, and the enduring power of human emotions. Through my characters, I want to remind people of the beauty of life, the strength in diversity, and the importance of embracing every moment with optimism.

WJM: Thank you, Myroslava, for this insightful conversation. Your journey and perspective are truly inspiring.

In conversation with Myroslava Filipovych, one can’t help but be inspired by her passion, resilience, and the sheer love for her craft. Her journey from the stages of Ukraine to the screens of Hollywood is a testament to the power of persistence, talent, and the universal language of emotions.
