Other types of flooring stone are sedimentary, which means they developed when layers of sediment hardened into rock over countless years. These include stones such as limestone and travertine. Igneous stones are formed in and around volcanoes. The most popular igneous stone used for flooring is granite. There are many benefits to using natural stone as flooring, and here are four of them.

Few natural objects rival the beauty of natural stone. Though granite is often thought of as a stone with a “salt and pepper” pattern, it can come in all kinds of colors thanks to the kinds of minerals found in the stone. Granite can be pink, gray, blue, cream or white, black or gold. The stone can also be full of clouds, veins, and other patterns that make it resemble marble. As for marble, this stone is believed to gather light into itself and give it out, which gives it a special, sought-after beauty. Q: Elsa, your rise from a challenging background to becoming a successful entrepreneur is incredibly inspiring. Can you share how The Queenie Effect started and what motivated you to launch it?

Elsa Morgan: Thank you! I appreciate you. My journey began when I decided to create my company, The Queenie Effect and then launch my coaching programs in mid-2021. I had a desire to support women in business. Initially, we focused on providing coaching services through group and one-on-one programs. However, as I engaged with more women, I realized there was a broader need for support. This insight led us to evolve the company into a comprehensive Women’s Empowerment company. Our services now include the Business Launch program to help women start six-figure businesses and the Six-Figure Success Collective to scale existing ventures. Additionally, we offer book collaboration opportunities and host EmpowerYou events to reach a broader audience on a global basis.

Elsa Morgan: My early life was marked by significant adversity, including poverty and a challenging financial situation after the 2009 Global Financial Crisis. I started my side hustle in 2015 with no prior business ownership experience, driven purely by motivation and the desire to create something meaningful. When I retired from corporate life in 2018 to focus on my business full-time, those early struggles fueled my determination. Q: Building a business from scratch involves many hurdles. What were some of the most significant challenges you faced, and how did you overcome them?

Elsa Morgan: One of the significant challenges was the skepticism from others who doubted my capabilities and qualifications. When I launched The Queenie Effect, I faced numerous doubts and criticisms. Additionally, the transition from a corporate environment to running a business from home presented its own set of challenges. Overcoming these obstacles required a lot of self-belief and a clear vision. I focused on my goals and remained committed to my mission. By concentrating on working on myself, specifically working on my mindset and skill set so I could deliver real results and maintain a consistent approach, I was able to prove the value of my services and build a successful business.

Q: Your achievements in such a short time are impressive. Can you elaborate on some of the milestones you’ve reached with The Queenie Effect?

Elsa Morgan: Certainly! One of my proudest moments was successfully launching The Queenie Effect and achieving significant revenue in just 92 days. Since then, we have achieved 7-figures from the launch. Building the business organically, without relying on external platforms or stages, has been a significant accomplishment. Another milestone was my husband joining me in the company in 2023, which allowed us to work together and achieve even more. Additionally, purchasing our dream home in 2024 was a personal highlight. These achievements are a testament to the hard work and dedication that has gone into building The Queenie Effect.

Q: Looking ahead, what are your aspirations for The Queenie Effect and your personal brand?

Elsa Morgan: My vision for The Queenie Effect is to expand our impact significantly globally. I aim to attract over 200 women actively involved in our Six-Figure Success Collective, learning the skill set, mindset and fundamentals to build 6-figures businesses. I also aspire to become a prominent speaker on global stages, sharing my experiences and inspiring women to take action. My book will play a crucial role in providing valuable insights for women aiming to build six-figure businesses. Additionally, we plan to offer business boost opportunities to women in low-socio-economic environments, helping them launch and grow their ventures.

Elsa Morgan: What sets me apart is my commitment to authenticity and results. I am known for my no-nonsense approach and for delivering on my promises. My coaching is grounded in real-world success and proven frameworks. I prioritize honesty and transparency, which helps build trust with my clients. The core values that guide my work are integrity, empowerment, and resilience. I am dedicated to providing real, actionable support that leads to tangible results for the women I work with. Lastly, I have recently been told that I am lucky. I am not lucky – I am patient, persistent, committed and consistent.

Elsa Morgan: Life will present to you who you are. So, if you are facing challenges, ask yourself, “what do I need to learn from this moment?”. I also believe that no matter how tough life gets, you can overcome challenges and emerge stronger. Reflecting on my own journey, I’ve learned that even in the darkest moments, there is a way forward. You are stronger than you think, more capable than you realize, and your knowledge and potential are often greater than you give yourself credit for. Keep pushing forward, believe in yourself, and remember that every obstacle is an opportunity for growth.

What was your initial reaction when you learned about Toni Stone’s story and her remarkable achievements in baseball?

I had never heard of her – I was so surprised that there had been a woman who played professional baseball. In the Negro Leagues! I shouldn’t have been though, considering all the other people who are only now coming to light in African American history.

How did you approach the challenge of illustrating a historical figure like Toni Stone, who may not be as widely known as other baseball legends?

I always do research before starting and I was very lucky to find some good resources. I listened to interviews with Toni and watched documentaries about her. I read articles and newspaper clippings. I took screenshots of her talking on video and watched clips from a play about her. I wanted to see her in action in my mind’s eye and imagine her as a girl.

What was the most inspiring aspect of Toni Stone’s life that you wanted to capture in your illustrations?

How indomitable she was. She was not going to give up, no matter what – no one could stop her! Not her parents, not the boys in baseball school, not her coaches, or her teammates in the Negro Leagues. Toni knew what she wanted to do and she made sure she was going to do it! I LOVE that about her! There’s one scene where Gabby Street, the major league player who opened the summer baseball school in her town, kept sending her away when she showed up for practice at the boys-only, all-white baseball school. She just kept coming back until she wore him down! I show those moments with multiple images of Toni on her bike riding around the page and around the coach. I wanted to visually show her trying again and again and again until she made it.

How did you balance historical accuracy with artistic interpretation in your illustrations for this book?

I already mentioned the research I do and in this case, I also looked at a lot of old baseball cards. That’s what inspired the different flag and banner shapes for the floating quotes that are on just about every page. Using the shapes of the baseball and baseball diamond throughout was fun too!

Could you describe your creative process for bringing the 1950s baseball era to life, particularly within the context of the Negro Leagues?

I always start with research. I began by researching the era. I looked at old photos of the baseball fields Toni played in, images of the Negro Leagues, and watched interviews and documentaries about Toni. I also looked at old baseball cards and kids playing Little League. What did her bike look like? What would the fans have been wearing? I collect many, many photos for each page before I even begin sketching. By the time I start sketching, I have so many images and ideas in my head to play around with. It’s only then that I start designing and sketching the pages.
